A coalition called the Health Rights Organizing Project has released Native Health Underfunded
& Promises Unfulfilled to urge Congress to appropriate funds to support the Indian
Health Care Improvement Act.
The booklet includes information from Indian health facilities across the nation. Officials explain the services they provide and the need for adequate funding.
"We have pretty extensive services, but we don't have enough money to provide services to the number of people who need them," states Lysa Ross, the chief operating officer of the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic.
The coalition hopes the booklet will help members of Congress understand the need to put more money into the Indian Health Service.
