Unofficial results show Ron His Horse Is Thunder losing his bid for re-election as chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
KFGO reported that His Horse Is Thunder lost to former chairman Charles Murphy. The vote tally was 1,233 to 695.
The tribe's reservation straddles the North Dakota-South Dakota border.
