A recount shows only a one-vote difference between two candidates for chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
Incumbent chairman Ron His Horse is Thunder received 220 votes in the tribe's recent primary. Avis Little Eagle, who currently serve as vice chair, received 219 votes.
Little Eagle has until noon today to decide to contest the election. "I haven't decided anything," she told The Bismarck Tribune.
Whoever comes in second is due to face former chairman Charles Murphy, who took the most votes in the primary. The general election is scheduled for September.
