The Environmental Protection Agency will spend another $25 million on a buyout and cleanup at the Tar Creek Superfund site in Oklahoma.
The money comes from the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act. It will be used to complete a buyout of homes and businesses in Tar Creek and to help clean up the lead-contaminated area.
Tar Creek is the worst toxic waste site in the nation. Mining companies left nearly 70 millions of waste on individual Indian lands owned by members of the Quapaw Tribe and other tribes.
