Businessman wants land for Onondaga Nation

A businessman in Syracuse has started a campaign to return land on the shoreline of Onondaga Lake to the Onondaga Nation.

Lloyd Withers, the chief executive officer of PCI Paper Conversions Inc., says the tribe has deep ties to the lake. It's where the five nations of the Iroquois Confederacy came together to declare peace.

But few non-Indian people know about the history, according to Withers. Onondaga leaders have previously talked about building a museum and environmental center on the shoreline.
