Leaders of the Onondaga Nation of New York said they will continue to pursue the tribe's land claim despite the U.S. Supreme Court's rejection of the Cayuga claim.
The Onodaga Nation filed suit in March 2005. The tribe claims about 4,000 square miles and is seeking environmental mediation.
The Cayuga Nation of New York and the Seneca-Cayuga of Oklahoma filed suit in 1980. The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the tribes waited too long to pursue their claims to 64,000 acres.
