The Onondaga Nation of New York has amended its land claim in hopes of keeping the lawsuit alive.
The tribe says the passage of time should not be an issue in the case. The new filing states the tribe was unable to file the claim until recently.
The changes were made in response to the recent dismissal of the Cayuga land claim. The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals said two Cayuga tribes waited too long to file suit.
