The Navajo Boys and Girls Club in Shiprock, New Mexico, finally reopened on Thursday after being closed for more than two years
The club was the first on a reservation. But it was among 14 clubs on the Navajo Nation that were closed in a funding and management dispute between the tribe and a non-profit organization.
The tribe now operates all of the clubs. Nation Joe Shirley Jr. hailed the Shiprock facility as positive space for children.
