The Boys and Girls Club of the Navajo Nation says the tribal government is holding back funds needed to pay its employees.
The club organization is not part of the tribe but is expecting $170,000 in federal housing and other funds. The organization's chief executive officer says the money is needed to pay 46 employees and keep the clubs up and running.
The 14 clubs will remain open but the employees won't get paid until the dispute is resolved. But the office of Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. says it won't release the money because he wants the tribe to take over the clubs.
