Bad BIA roads block mail service to reservation

The U.S. Postal Service has stopped delivering mail to some residents of the Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Reservation in Nevada due to deteriorating road conditions.

About two dozen residents are affected because postal worker can't get through two roads. Tribal leaders blame the Bureau of Indian Affairs for failing to maintain the Hicks and Reservation roads.

The tribe receives about $10,000 in Indian Reservation Road (IRR) funds. Vice chairwoman Rochanne Downs said the tribe has asked the BIA for more money but the only solution is to ask Congress.
