Onondaga Nation seeks to keep land claim alive

The Onondaga Nation of New York is in court today to try to keep its land claim alive.

In 2005, the tribe filed suit over 4,000 square miles of land. But the state says the tribe waited too long to bring the case.

The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed another New York land claim due to the time issue. The Onondagas say their case is different because they aren't seeking monetary damages or to evict any current landowners.

Arguments will be heard before Judge Lawrence Kahn.
