City seeks to join Saginaw Chippewa lawsuit

The city of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, is seeking to join a lawsuit filed by the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe over the boundaries of its reservation.

The tribe sued Michigan to settle the boundaries of the historic Isabella Reservation. The federal government has intervened on the tribe's behalf.

The city and the Isabella County have filed motions to intervene. A hearing is set for October 2 in federal court in Bay City.

The tribe and the Department of Justice don't want the city and county to join the suit.
