The Seminole Tribe of Florida has blocked former chairman Jim Billie from running for office.
The tribe says Billie doesn't live on Seminole land. But he says he maintains a home on the reservation in Brighton.
Billie was removed by the tribal council in 2003 after 23 years as leader. He faced questions about his financial dealings but was never charged with any wrongdoing.
The tribe is holding a May 16 election. Incumbent Chairman Mitchell Cypress is seeking re-election.
