A settlement between the Seminole Tribe and former chief Jim Billie bars Billie from being "disloyal" to the tribe in exchange for $600,000 and a public apology.
The deal means Billie and a non-Indian associate who used to work for the tribe can't testify in any lawsuits involving the tribe. Billie was going to be called to the stand by Donald Trump in an upcoming trial.
Billie, 62, is getting paid for the two years he was suspended before being ousted as chief after 23 years of leading the tribe. He must apologize to the Seminole people for his handling of tribal affairs.
