The Golden Hill Paugussett Tribe of Connecticut plans to appeal the dismissal of its land claim.
The tribe lost the case because it doesn't have federal recognition. The Bureau of Indian Affairs rejected the tribe's petition in 2004.
The state says the dismissal of the lawsuit means the tribe is "finished." But the tribe will take the case to the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, which recently dismissed the Cayuga land claim by saying the Cayuga tribes waited to long to file their claim.
The Paugussett Tribe is recognized by the state and has a state reservation.
