The Golden Hill Paugussett Tribe is waiting for the Bush administration to make a decision on its federal recognition petition.

If the answer is yes, the tribe hopes to open a casino in Bridgeport. Some within the economically depressed town support development.

The tribe was turned out for federal status by the Clinton administration. A reconsideration was ordered in 1999.
