The leader of the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island said a parody of him was "ignorant" and "insulting."
Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas was portrayed by the Charlie Hall of the Ocean State Follies. Hall wore a rainbow-colored feather headdress, a costume Thomas called racist.
"To have a gentleman standing up there with painted chicken feathers and a bunch of jewelry like hes off the set of King Kong is really insulting," Thomas told The Providence Journal.
The Ocean State Follies performed the skit at a rally with the anti-casino group Save our State.
The tribe is asking state voters to amend the constitution to authorize a casino.
