Indian Land Tenure Foundation discusses land issues

The Indian Land Tenure Foundation screened "American Indian Homelands: Matters of Truth, Honor and Dignity-Immemorial," a film about the history of federal Indian land policy, at the University of Minnesota.

The film describes the problems Indian people face in managing their land. Fractionation is considered one of the biggest issues that could be seeing some relief with the implementation of the American Indian Probate Reform Act of 2004.

The bill establishes probate code standards and encourages the writing of wills. ILTF officials said Indian landowners can begin to consolidate their properties.
