ILTF opens Indian estate planning institute

The Indian Land Tenure Foundation has launched the Institute for Indian Estate Planning and Probate at the Seattle University School of Law.

The institute seeks to help Indian people make informed decisions about their land, to provide estate planning and probate training to tribes and to serve as a clearinghouse for Indian estate planning information, according to Indian Country Today.

The project comes as the American Indian Probate Reform Act goes into effect. The law seeks to establish a uniform probate code in Indian Country and provide more estate tools to tribes and individuals.
