The Senate Indian Affairs Committee is holding two hearings and one business meeting this month.
On March 8, the committee will hold a hearing on S.2078, the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act Amendments of 2005. The focus will be on provisions that would require the National Indian Gaming Commission to review all gaming and gaming-related contracts.
On March 15, the committee will hold a hearing on S.1899, Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act Amendments of 2005. Among other provisions, the bill would reauthorize funds for child sexual abuse prevention and treatment grants, identify the scope of child abuse and family violence in Indian Country through annual data collections and to share incidents of child abuse among law enforcement agencies.
On March 28, the committee will hold a hearing on S.1439, the Indian Trust Reform Act of 2005. The focus is on Titles II-VI of the measure.
Finally, on March 29, the committee will hold a business meeting. The agenda has not been published.
