Campbell appeared at a reception sponsored by the National Indian Gaming Association, Indian Country Today reported. ''A lot of Indians are worried that the doors will be closed back here because of this Abramoff scandal,'' he said. But he told attendees that his former colleagues aren't blaming tribes for the scandal.
''This guy did a lot of damage - a lot of damage. But he'll be taken care of,'' he said, according to ICT.
Campbell now works as a lobbyist for the Holland & Knight firm [Bio]. The firm also employs former principal deputy assistant secretary Aurene Martin, former National Indian Gaming Commission member Teresa Poust and other tribal members. Before the reception, Campbell and Martin attended the February 1 Senate hearing on off-reservation gaming.
