Salt River voters reject expanded liquor sales

Members of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in Arizona rejected an expanded liquor sale ordinance on Tuesday.

The referendum would have allowed the sale of alcohol at restaurants. Currently, liquor is only sold at casinos and golf courses.

The vote was 258 to 208. "Our biggest problem out here is alcohol and drugs," one tribal member told The Arizona Republic. "I want to put this to rest and bury it."
