Diane Benson, an Alaska Native women who is running for U.S. Congress, is upset that she won't be allowed to speak at the upcoming Alaska Federation of Natives conference or even have a booth there.
Benson, a Democrat, can't understand why she isn't allowed to speak but her opponent, Rep. Don Young, is on the agenda. But AFN says Young's invitation isn't about politics or the election.
AFN also says time it limited so they can't put Benson on the agenda.
Political campaigns have always been a big part of AFN's annual conference. This year, the candidates for governor will have a debate. In years past, both candidates U.S. Senate have addressed attendees.
The conference is being held next week in Anchorage.
