Tribal members celebrated Native American Day in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Monday.
The late governor George Mickelson started Native American Day in 1989. It replaced the state's observance of Columbus Day.
The yearly celebration in Sioux Falls features a powwow. Young and old gathered at the Multi-Cultural Center.
