Group hopes to open new California tribal college

A group of former supporters of D-Q University, the only tribal college in California, hope they can open a new tribal institution in the state.

The group has incorporated as the California Tribal University, a nonprofit. Cindy LaMarr, a former member of D-Q's governing board, said the new college is in the planning stages.

Marr and others had tried to revive D-Q after it lost accreditation and federal funds. But some say it will be hard for the school to get back on track.
