Navajo president, vice president not speaking

Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. and his Vice President Frank Dayish Jr. are hardly speaking, the Associated Press reports.

The two men were elected as a team four years ago. But they don't travel together and barely communicate, aides to the leaders told the AP.

It's not clear why Shirley and Dayish have split. But when Shirley announced his re-election plans, he didn't tell Dayish, The Gallup Independent reported a few months ago.

Dayish has since joined the race against his former running. Next week's primary will determine whether the two men will face each other in the November election.
