Port Gamble S�Klallam Tribe to open new library


The Port Gamble S�Klallam Tribe of Washington broke ground on Tuesday for a new library on the reservation.

The tribe teamed with the Kitsap Regional Library to open a branch in 1974. The 1,500-square-foot Little Boston Library has been popular among reservation residents and those in neighboring communities.

The new $936,000 Little Boston Library will be much bigger, with 3,800 square-feet of space. It is part of the tribe's e House of Knowledge complex that includes a longhouse, Elders� Center and Career and Education Center.

The tribe raised and secured all of the funding for the facility.
