The Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe of Washington is building a new complex that will include a longhouse, a library, an elders center and a a career and education center.
Construction on the ceremonial longhouse has begun. The structure, to serve as a meeting place for the tribe, will be finished in October.
The career and education center is also under construction as the tribe raises money for the new library and elders center. The total cost of the House of Knowledge complex is about $4.3 million.
