Retired Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colorado) didn't lobby his colleagues in violation of federal law, his new firm says.
Campbell, a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana, joined the Holland & Knight law and lobbying firm in January 2005. Federal law barred him from lobbying his former colleagues for one year.
But the firm filed two reports in February that indicated Campbell was lobbying the House and Senate on behalf of United Airlines and the PGA Tour. He was listed in Senate records as a registered lobbyist [Year-End Report for UAL | Year-End Report for PGA Tour]
The firm now says Campbell's name was put on the forms in error.
