The Puyallup Tribe of Washington is seeking to acquire a 9-acre former military site in the port of Tacoma.

The tribe wants the old Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center as part of its effort to acquire more port properties. The tribe already owns 150 acres there, according to The Tacoma News-Tribune.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is making the request for the surplus property on behalf of the tribe. Other government agencies are also inquiring.
