Osage Nation voters approve new constitution

Members of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma voted overwhelmingly in favor of a new constitution.

Nearly 67 percent backed the constitution, The Native American Times reported. The tribe will now move to a three-branch form of government.

The tribe has been rebuilding its government after Congress rescinded limits that had been imposed by the United States 100 years ago. The tribe adopted a new citizenship standard and held meetings to discuss the new form of government.
