Osage Nation asks for input on new constitution

The Osage Nation of Oklahoma is asking members to consider how they want their tribe's new form of government to look.

The tribe's government and membership were limited by an act of Congress from 1906. Not every Osage had a right to vote in elections, and some had more than one vote. Some Osage descendants weren't considered tribal members.

A bill passed by Congress and signed into law reaffirms the tribe's right to define its own government. The tribe is seeking input on a new constitution.
