The Beaver Creek Indian Tribe in South Carolina will make its case for state recognition at a hearing on Friday.
The tribe wants to be the third tribe recognized in the state. The state Commission for Minority Affairs recognized the first two tribes last year.
The Beaver Creeks claim descent from Siouan Indians.
