Cecilia Fire Thunder, the first female president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, is confident she'll get her job back after being suspended by the tribal council.
Fire Thunder defended taking out a $38 million loan to pay off the tribe's debt. She said she has uncovered major financial problems within the tribe that her detractors have ignored.
The council suspended Fire Thunder for 20 days. A full hearing on a complaint filed by a former tribal employee will be held to determine whether she will stay in power.
