The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska is seeing economic progress thanks to a diversification effort, USA Today reports.

The tribe started Ho-Chunk Inc., its economic development corporation, in 1994. The goal was to decrease the reliance on gaming revenues, which saw a big hit due to the legalization of riverboat casinos in nearby Iowa.

The strategy worked, with Ho-Chunk now reporting over $100 million in revenues. Most of the money goes back into businesses like AllNative.Com, an e-commerce site, and Rez Car, a used car company. The tribe also began Ho-Chunk Village, a housing development.
