A second lawsuit has been filed to challenge the same-sex marriage of a Cherokee Nation couple.
A group of Cherokee Nation council members filed a lawsuit last Friday to block the marriage license obtained by Kathy Reynolds and Dawn McKinley.
"We don't want gay marriages in the Cherokee Nation. It's that simple," council member Linda O'Leary told the Associated Press.
The move comes after the tribe's top court last Wednesday held that a private citizen lacked the right to challenge the union.
