Tobacco laws at issue for First Nations businesses

Officials in Saskatchewan won't say whether they will enforce the province's tobacco laws on First Nations.

The province has a so-called "shower-curtain" law that bans the display of tobacco. But some stores owned by First Nations and operating on reserves do not follow the law, CBC News reports.

First Nations say they will make their own laws regarding tobacco. That position has been upheld by the Canadian government when a dispute arose over Saskatchewan's new law that bans smoking in public places.
