The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations has voted not to accept the province's new smoking ban.
The ban goes into effect on January 1. It bans smoking in virtually all public places, including gaming facilities.
First Nation chiefs agree smoking is unhealthy but won't accept a total ban. They have agreed to designate 40 percent of the space at four tribal casinos as non-smoking. Each First Nation is also expected to pass its own tobacco control law.
