Members of three Oklahoma tribes went to the polls over the weekend. Here are the results, as reported by The Oklahoman.

Internationally recognized artist and former state Sen. Kelly Haney [Web Site] was elected principal chief of the Seminole Nation with 61.5 percent of the vote. Voters also elected 27 members to the general council.

Voters of the Cherokee Nation re-elected incumbents Delton Ray Cox and Joe Ed Coley to the council. Incumbent E.J. Johnson was ousted with just 10.7 percent of the vote. A run-off will be held for his seat. Anthony Glen Dillard was also elected.

The Kiowa Tribe held a disputed election but the attorney for a group of tribal members who weren't allowed to vote is going to ask the Bureau of Indian Affairs not to recognize the results.
