The Passamaquoddy Tribe of Maine is being asked to drop efforts to open a liquefied natural gas terminal on the Pleasant Point Reservation.
The tribe signed an agreement with an Oklahoma company for a $400 million LNG terminal that promised hundreds of jobs and millions in revenues. But some tribal members and residents of a nearby town whose approval was needed opposed the project.
After the town voted against the plan, opponents met with the tribal council last week to seek an end to the deal. Tribal officials haven't made a decision whether to continue.
