Two more schools exempted from NCAA mascot policy

The Central Michigan University "Chippewas" and the University of Utah "Utes" have won exemptions from the NCAA's policy on Indian mascots.

The NCAA said it will allow the two schools to use Indian imagery during post-season tournaments. The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe supports the "Chippewas" while the Northern Ute Tribe supports the "Utes."

The Florida State University "Seminoles" have previously won an exemption. The University of North Dakota "Fighting Sioux" are waiting on a decision from the NCAA. Sioux tribes have expressed opposition to the nickname and logo.
