Six deceased Meskwaki Code Talkers received military medals for their World War II service on Sunday.
The awards were presented posthumously to the families of the soldiers. The honors ranged from the Bronze Star to the American Defense Service Medal to the World War II Victory Medal.
Sen. Tom Harkin (D) presented the medals. He is sponsoring legislation to award Medals of Honor to the Code Talkers.
