Ponca Tribe files suit to close chemical plant


The Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma filed a lawsuit in federal court on Wednesday seeking the closure of a chemical plant and monetary damages.

The tribe filed suit on behalf of 11 adults members and 52 children. The plaintiffs say the Continental Carbon plant in Ponca City has harmed their health and well-being.

The tribe also blames the plant for a black substances that is leaking onto Ponca land. They say their water has become polluted.
