FRIDAY, AUGUST 30, 2002 Tribal members and union members have formed a group called the Coalition for Environmental and Economic Justice to protest a chemical plant in Oklahoma. The Ponca Tribe, the Indigenous Environmental Network and two labor unions want the state to investigate the Continental Carbon company. They claim the company's chemical plant is violating environmental law. The plant is leaking some sort of black substance near Ponca homes. The unions have been locked out of the company.
