A member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe of Wyoming was elected to the Legislature on Tuesday.
Democrat Patrick Goggles beat incumbent Republican Jim Allen. Goggles had 1,778 votes to 1,149 votes for Allen, The Casper Star-Tribune reported.
Goggles will represent House District 33, which includes the Wind River Reservation. The Northern Arapaho Tribe and the Eastern Shoshone Tribe are based on the reservation.
Goggles is the first Indian elected to the Legislature in several years, the paper said. Allen also lives on the reservation.
