The man convicted of murdering American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash began serving his life sentence in a federal prison in Colorado.
Arlo Looking Cloud, 51, was found guilty by a jury for the 1975 murder. His new lawyer filed an appeal and is asking the court for a mental evaluation.
A second man indicted for Aquash's murder, John Graham, goes before an extradition hearing in Canada this December.
