A federal judge on Wednesday heard arguments over the status of the Wyandotte Nation's casino in Kansas.
The state raided the facility last week, claiming authority to enter trust land. But a government attorney representing the National Indian Gaming Commission said the state lacks jurisdiction. The tribe called the raid an "egregious violation of tribal sovereignty," according to the Associated Press.
The tribe asked the judge to reopen the casino but the judge declined, citing an earlier case in which the state and four Kansas tribes sued to stop the Wyandotte casino plans. The case is still pending.
