Slain American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash will be reburied on her home reserve in Canada this Monday.
Aquash was born on the Indian Brook Mi'kmaq Reserve in Nova Scotia. Her family and friends are planning a weekend of activities to mark her return home.
Aquash was murdered on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota in December 1975. She was buried there.
Arlo Looking Cloud, who was convicted of her murder, is serving a life sentence but is appealing. A second man charged with the murder, John Graham, is awaiting extradition from Canada.
