The president and CEO of the American Indian College Fund is being accused of preventing his aunt from being prosecuted for the murder of American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash.
Denise Maloney, a daughter of Aquash, sent Rick Williams an e-mail that urges him to seek his aunt's cooperation with federal investigators. Theda Clarke is believed to have been the third person involved with Aquash's December 1975 death on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
Clarke is in her 80s and lives in an elderly home in rural Nebraska. A friend of Aquash says Clarke may not be able to provide information because she had a stroke and suffers from Alzheimer's disease.
Clarke is alleged to have helped Arlo Looking Cloud and John Graham bring Aquash from Colorado to South Dakota. Looking Cloud has been convicted for Aquash's murder. Graham is fighting extradition.
