The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians in Michigan is investigating a data security incident at its casino. The point-of-sale systems at the FireKeepers Casino may have been breached as far back as August 2014, WWMT reported. A source told the station that patrons' debit card and credit card numbers were stolen and used to make fraudulent purchases. "As soon as we learned of the possible incident, we initiated an aggressive investigation, including immediately engaging independent IT forensic experts to assist us," the tribe said in a press release. "While the investigation continues, we took the additional step of installing new point of sale equipment to ensure our customers can use their credit and debit cards safely at the casino, hotel, and any restaurants or stores on Firekeepers’ property." The cash registers at FireKeepers were replaced earlier this month, WWMT reported. The tribe has notified law enforcement. Get the Story:
